HISTORY:
Buena Vista opened in 1926 as a tourist camp for travelers. After World War II, the cabins were replaced by a "strip" motel and was renamed an "auto court."; In the late 1940s, the trailer park began to look more like it does today, with some trailers appearing to be fixed in place; By 1966, most of the trailers were no longer mobile and were occupied by long-term owners or renters.
In September, 2017, funding for the acquisition and redevelopment of Buena Vista came through a three-way partnership between Santa Clara County, City of Palo Alto and The Santa Clara County Housing Authority. Buena Vista is under the operating authority of Caritas which will work to preserve and improve Buena Vista as an affordable housing community.
